Topaz Quilting & Embroidery Update – 10/06/2016

Autumn’s Color Pallet . . .

Isn’t it just amazing how the colors change in Autumn? It feels so earthy and comforting to me to watch the colors change from the bright greens of Summer to the rich golds, oranges and reds of Autumn. It’s not just the leaves, but how the fruits and vegetables in the garden ripen and produce beautiful colors. My pumpkins, peppers, tomatoes and various squashes all showing that they are ready to be picked and enjoyed. It is a perfect time to sit back and reflect on all the hard work we’ve done over the Summer. It’s time to remember how much fun we had as well. Family vacations, taking trips to visit family and the time we spent around the BBQ with friends. As we start to pack away those summer clothes and start pulling out the long pants, heavy jackets and warm quilts and blankets, we start to look forward to the next part of our lives. We start to settle back and watch the nights start sooner and the mornings lighten up later. We focus on the holiday plans, and how we’re going to finish all those projects for all the planned presents we want to give away. Sadly, if you’re more like me, you haven’t even started planning and the thought of the holidays makes you hide under the bed. It’s time to sit back for a little bit and take a moment for yourself. Hot spiced tea, cider or chocolate on a crisp, cool morning hits the spot. Wrapping up in a lap quilt with the first fire of the season, crackling away in the fireplace, makes for a perfect way to welcome in the full embrace of Autumn.

Kimberbell Bench Pillow Embroidery Class. . .

We have been playing around with the new products being put out by Kimberbell. These are wonderful embroidery designs that Kim Christopherson, the creator of Kimberbell Designs, has converted from her very popular quilt & sewing projects. There is a monthly type design pack that she has put out called Bench Pillow. She has designed different covers to go over a bench pillow and you change out the covers for different holidays and events. There are many designs we currently offer but we want to feature two of them, Autumn and Halloween and we are holding a class to help get you started. You will be multi-hooping and sewing these designs. Some preparation before class is required.

Row by Row Ended? Naw, just in Hibernation . . .

If you have the patterns and kits to make your favorite blocks, you still have until October 31st, 2016 to get those quilts completed, bound and taken to one of the participating shops that still has not had a winner to claim your prize of 25 fat quarters. If you’re using a row from the shop your turning in your quilt to, you should receive an extra special prize.

Name Your Season Fabric, Sale !

It is a perfect storm at Topaz Quilting & Embroidery. A tiny shop and over enthusiastic fabric purchasing has created a very interesting result at the shop. We are being over run with brand new fabrics and a single season focused sale just won’t help us move fabric, so we’ve decided to offer a “Name Your Season” fabric sale. Starting now through the end of the month of October, all regularly priced fabric is being offered for 25% discount for in store purchases only. This includes cut fabrics as well. Any fabric not already marked down as a sale item will receive the discount. If you prefer to shop on the website, use the coupon code “fabric15” to receive a 15% discount on all non-sale fabric items while supplies last.

Shop Vacation Time . . .

It has been a while since we have closed the shop for some time off. As a reward to all our hard working elves, we will be closed for a week of rest & relaxation and holiday preparation. The shop will be closed from Thursday, October 13th and will reopen on Thursday, October 19th at regular time. I hope that this isn’t a huge inconvenience and we all appreciate your understanding.

Special Shop Days Closed

The shop will be closed from Thursday, October 13th through Wednesday, October 19th 2016. The shop will be closed Monday, October 31st for Halloween.
