Today is Independence Day for America. It is the time of year where we celebrate the courage and strength our Founding Fathers showed in the creation of this Great Nation. With dedication, devotion, love and blood, America was forged out of a deserve group of people. A vision was shared among them that we would be in a country where The Creator was allowed to be worshiped in any fashion, free from the rule of a King. We received certain inalienable rights by this Creator. They are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
During this time, America has grown to be the world’s leader in many areas. We have helped put down dictators and killers in two world wars. We have sent our culture out across the world, helping developing nations with food, education and purpose. We have helped others during times of crisis and disasters. We’ve sent supplies, support and aid during times of floods, famine, earthquakes and fire. We have done all this under a single and united country. The United States of America.
There is a wonderful gift standing in the New York Harbor. It was given to us by a country that helped us win our Independence from England. France and it’s people sent us the Statue of Liberty. Her words are a welcome to immigrants seeking a new life and a hope for a freedom seldom shared by other countries. For years, she has welcomed many to our Great Nation. She still stands to this day, and America is still as Great as Ever! “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” This quote comes from Emma Lazarus’ sonnet, New Colossus. We’ve had our differences. We’ve had our share of pain. We’ve been taken in different directions over the years and we’ve even been pulled in-side-out, but through it all, Americans are still a very proud people. Thousands still flock to this country every year seeking the safety and security we have to offer. Let’s be reminded this day, of all the wonderful things America has done and has stood for. Let us, once again, shine as the beacon of Hope and Dignity and as an Inspiration to others to rise above the oppression of their own countries and allow them the ability and freedom to be a country lead “By the people and for the people!”
On this Day, Let Freedom Ring !
